The Marantz NR1501 AV receiver introduced the concept of high quality, but slimline, AV receivers to the market back in 2009. The idea was that most customers don't need the incredibly large number of functions that modern AV receivers have, but all those features result in a massive box. However, there was a desire from owners (and potential owners) to have a slimline receiver, no bigger in height than a DVD player, that could provide the high quality sound they wanted.
By stripping things back whilst still provding the most important of features, Marantz have been able to reduce the size of the AV receiver down to half the height of the average AV receiver - and still providing sound quality to match the competition. With 4 HDMI inputs, and boasts HD audio decoding for both DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD, the NR1501 also has 7 channels of 50W per channel power, sufficient for a full 7.1 system in your home.
